Eeeeek!!! I will be embarking on my journey in just 50 days!! I still cannot believe it’s so soon. I’ve been doing everything to prepare– taking Thai lessons, trying new Thai foods, and speaking with my first host family.

I’m sure everyone wants to know the details of my year, so I’ve compiled all of the information!

The province I will be living in is called Phrae. It is in the Northeast, near Laos. This province is know for its plethora of Buddhist Wats (temples) and national parks. It’s very mountainous, so I’m excited for this drastic change from Houston 😉

I will be staying with 2 host families over the 10 months. I’ve already been in contact with my first family, and they are the sweetest people in the world. Their daughter will be on exchange in Taiwan while I’m there, but she’s still been helping me learn Thai!

My school is provincial school called Nareerat School. It’s about 10 minutes from my first host family’s house. I will wear a school uniform and participate in many different classes and activities. I hope to join a musical group, a cooking class, and a traditional Thai dancing class. I don’t know my schedule yet, but these are what past students have taken.

I absolutely cannot wait to begin my next chapter in Thailand! I’m excited to learn the language, try new foods (and hopefully like spicy food by the end), and meet so many new people. My life will definitely change a lot this next year!!
